Cheap solution to inoperative speedometer

Hey Folks,

I have a Jeep Cherokee with broken speedometer.  I had it looked at dealership and work for short while.  Cost of repair $1000.

I was looking at GPS Speedometer thru Autometer and they want like $350.  I was thinking this would be easiest  way so i do not have to splice wires.

I got to thinking.  What if i called Car Inspection station to see if my Garmin GPS to replace my speedometer.  I did call two stations and said would be ok.  Cross fingers, we will see.

I will on Sunday replace the fuel pump and drive down to car inspection station.
